Ganges Flowing Gangaakarshanam Srithara Ayyaval Mutt Tiruvisalur

POOJYASRI  SREETHARA  AYYAAVAAL  GANGAAKARSHANAM  AT  THIRUVISANALLUR – 10 KM FROM KUMBKONAM

Every Year at Thiruvisanallur Srithara Ayaval Mutt Karthikai will be a month of Celebrations – Annual Gangaakarshnam on Amavasai day of Karthikai month.

Srithara Ayyaval is the second to none in Bajanai sampradaya and closely associated With Bothendrar,Maruthanallur Swamikal and others.

Ayyaval period dates back to 19^th Century and he used to Bajan in Arulmigu Mahalingam temple Thiruvidaimaruthur few kilometer from Thiruvisanallur.

The Gangaakarshanam is as below:

When Ayyaval was performing Thithi for his parent – once he was waiting for Bramanas for taking Bojan. At that time an old man of other caste asking for food to Ayyavaal.

After a small thnking Ayyaval offered the Food (kept for Brahmana Bojan).The old man satisfied and left.

When later Bramanas who came , after knowing this fact refused to take food at Ayyaval House saying he violated Thithi norms. Since the thithi could not be completed without Taking food by Brahmans , Ayyaavaal asked the Brahmans about the Pariharam for his Deviation. The Brahmanas informed only bath by Ayyaval in Ganges will absolve of his Sins.They also informed after Ayyaval Bath in Ganges only they will take food. Ayyaval Prayed to Ganges.

The Miracle is Ganges River  flowed  to his house through the Well in the backside. The Ganges flowed ino the village through the well and started flooding. All the villagers then Only  understood the divinity of the Ayyaval and offered apologies to him and requested Him to stop the flow. Then Ayyaavaal  stopped the Water Flow from the well.

Every year devotees/bakthas used to take holy bath there in the well on Karthikai Amavasai day – on which day the miracle happened.

THIS YEAR THE GANGAKARSHANAM IS ON 2^ND DECEMBER 2013 MONDAY.HOLY BATH CAN BE MADE FROM 5.30 AM ONWARDS TILL CROWD IS NIL.

The Place is about 10 KM from Kumbakonam on Kumbakonam to Mayavaram road – a slight leftside deviation near  Dakshina Pandaripuram –Govindapuram.

The Above Incdent/Miracle occurred only to make understood the villagers(all the people) that there is no caste/creed/niyathi/ for making annadanams/bojanams to the needy people.

Bakthas can visit the Ayyaval Mutt at the above place on any other day also and most of The days there will be annadanams/bajans by eminent . the Mutt has been taken care by a devoted,selfless devotee who has been serving bakthas coming without any expectation And there is no demand/request for donation or anything in any form also.
