Dindigul Arulmigu Abirami Kovil Renovation Needs Assistance

NEEDS ASSISTANCE FOR RENOVATION OF ABIRAMI AMMAN KOIL, DINDIGUL
The temple is only one of its kind wherein there are two Sivans and Two Ambals – Arulmigu Abirami Ambal Sametha Arulmigu Padmagireeswarar ( The Rock is known as Padmagiri and in a way looks identical to Great Kailash Hill – Lord Shiva’s Abode) and Arulmigu Gnanambigai sametha Arulmigu Kalahastheeswarar.
It was Chera king Dharmabalan who built a temple in the Vedic period about 1500 years back for Abirami Amman on top of the rockfort famously known as “malaikottai”.(Padmagiri) He also constructed another temple right in the centre of the town to celebrate festivals and park the majestic temple car .
Later in the 14th centuary, King Atchutha Rayar renovated the temple in the town and installed the deities of Lord Kalahastheeswarar and Gnanambigai, as advised by His Gurus for removing Rahu Kethu Dosha for him.
During the reign of Tipu Sulthan,in 16th – 17th Century, for security reasons, he relocated the Shrines of Lord Padmagiriswarar and Abirami Amman from the Rockfort to the temple on the plains in the city. During that period the fort at the Top of the Hill was utilized by Malik Kaphoor Team. Since there were samadhis of few soldiers atop,  even after Thipus reign, the Dieties have not been able to be reinstalled there.
This Temple was the favourite of  Rani Velu Nachiyar ( Sivaganga Queen) who fought with  Great British ( long before Jhansi Rani in Jhansi) and got victory over them.
The temple finds a mention in Thirupughal by the famous saint poet Arunagirinathar. Bhagwan Ramana Maharishi, who did his schooling in Dindigul is believed to have visited the temple regularly.
The temple attracted many ardent devotees, from far and near, who had unflinching faith that the presiding deity Abrirami Amman would shower Her blessings and grant boons in answer to their prayers.
The Temple is now 5 feet below ground ( Main road ) due to the time factor and in rainy days the whole temple complex will be with water. Time has come to renovate and with the help of  HR & CE Department and Local Philanthropists the renovation work is now going on.
This dream project estimated at a cost of a whopping Rs.20 crores is to be completed in a time frame of about 2 years. It has caught the imagination of all the true devotees of Abirami Amman, who view this as a God-given opportunity to participate in this historic venture.
