PALANI  TEMPLE

Palani is famous for the Hill temple and most of the devotees returning after getting darshan of  the Palaniyandavar. Dandayuthapani Swami. Having Darshan of Swami in Aandi Kolam  is said to be
inauspicious. It is false. Certain matters have been converted in a wrong manner in the course of time .
Dandam means "Kambu".He is here only with dandam renouncing all ambitions and also after convincing
Lord Shiva and Parvathi - His parents. Above all the Moolavar is made of Nava bashaanam ans the
radiation from the Moolavar may be much higher than normal moolavars. If we have darshan of the moolavar
in aandi kolam, he will be wearing only kowbeenam and we will have blesings from from his heart. He is only Baladandayuthapani. Child. All will be immensely pleased to have darshan in that alangaaram also. Andi kolam is the specific alangaaram for Palaniandavar. Hence nobody need to feel for having that darshan when
they visited the temple.

There are two other special temples in Palani which is not visited by many.
When Lord Murugan came to Palani , after the Mangoe Dispute with Lord Ganesh - Lord Shiva , Parvathy
and Lord Ganesh all came here and tried to pacify him and return to Kailash. But Lord Murugan decided to be here. Unable to part with Lord Muruga , Lord Shiva, Parvathy & Ganesh  settled here for sometime blessing the people of this area. This is also one of the  reasons for innumerable saivite madams, koumara madams, siththars around these place.
Lord Shiva stayed separately on the other side of the Shanmuga nathi . His Temple is known as Peria avudiyaar koil. In this Temple no Ambal sannathi and no Goddess present. Vishnu, Brahma, Aathi Ruthramurthy , Dakshinamurthy are present. The Linga is swayambu and will have scars of arrow by a hunter once.Pradosham/sivarathri are very popular here.
Similarly Parvathy is in a separate temple - Periyanayagi amman . this temple is known as Yanai koil and the Elephants of all the Palani Temples are being kept here, This temple is also known as Athi Palani, In the heart of the old palani town. Here all the Sannathis, Ambal,Shivan ( Kailasanathar) and Somaskanthar are in a row
and as in normal Somaskanthar is situated in between Amabl and shiva. Here navagrahas are placed above well and it has some special significance for removing doshas. Here Bathrakali at the entrance and Durgai in the Prahaarams are to be worshipped.Navarathri /Aadi are Uthsavams here. For all the uthsavams except Panguni Uthram The Festival flag will be hoisted in this Temple only. It is old saying that we should see Hill temple after seeing this temple only.
Separate Vinayagar Temple is also there as Pattathu Vanayagar.
Piriyaa(dont want to paart)vudiyaar and Piriyaanaayagi -(means Muruganai vittu piriyaatha vudiayaar and piriyaatha naayagi ) changed into Periyanayagi & Peruyavudiyaar.
Devotees are requested to see this temple also ahen they visit palani.
